Council Leisure Centres

NOTE: We are aware that Fusion Lifestyle will no longer be running the Council’s leisure centres from early December 2023, with a new contractor taking over. We are liaising with the Council to get as much information as possible about what this means and we have the following information:

Fusion becomes Better

Enfield council has appointed a new operator to run its leisure centres

Enfield Council has appointed a new provider, Greenwich Leisure Ltd (GLL), to operate its leisure centres under the brand Better.

GLL is a non-profit, staff-owned, charitable social enterprise with 30 years’ experience in the industry, running more than 250 sports and leisure facilities in London and across the UK.

It will take over from Fusion Lifestyle on 3 December and the leisure centres will be closed 4-6 December while GLL installs its computer systems, updates signage, trains staff and undertakes a full deep clean of the facilities.

For the first two weeks after handover, GLL will have experienced staff in reception across all centres, assisting both current staff with the new booking systems and also helping customers to ensure the transition to GLL is a smooth one for everyone.

The Enfield Council says that “pricing and discounts will remain the same until the end of the financial year (31 March) and will then be reviewed for the new financial year as per normal. The Over 50s days will also continue on the same basis and then be reviewed periodically to ensure they best meet the needs of centre users.”

Membership and personal information, including bank details where applicable, now held by Fusion will be transferred into the GLL system.

GLL will be communicating via email with all Fusion customers and printed information is already available in centres. Everyone will need a new membership card – which can be obtained from the leisure centres from 7 December.

Fusion customers who book through the app have been receiving information since mid-November. They have been told they need to download the Better UK app and will receive an email with their new membership number and instructions on how to set it up.

The best way to get more information is to visit your local centre on Thursday 7 December and talk to staff there or visit better.org.uk/contactus

This information below relates to Fusion and may change once GLL takes over

Forum members can buy the concession card (sometimes called the energy card) for £7.50 a year instead of the standard price of £21.50. With this card you will get the discounts listed below.

Our exclusive annual membership deal with Fusion costs just £390 a year – equivalent £32.50 a month or £7.50 a week. This gives free access to swim, gym and exercise classes at all Fusion centres in Enfield at any time.

Forum members are also eligible for a direct debit monthly rate of £45.10 a month, compared to the standard rate to £60 a month.

It is even cheaper (just £35.20 per month) for those who can attend in off-peak hours which are Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm and weekends 12 noon – 4pm.

You can also just pay-as-you-go for individual sessions:

ConcessionStandard
Swim£3.40£6.40
Gym£5.50£10.75
Group class£5.50£10.95
Sauna & Steam£7.40£12.40

How do Over 50s members ensure they get the discount now that all bookings are online?

People need to go to fusion-lifestyle.com and select a preferred centre and register with their name and address etc. Then they should go into that centre, show their Over 50s Forum membership card and renew or buy their annual Fusion concession card. This information will be added to their online registration so that they will then pay the lower prices.

The centres are owned by Enfield Council and run by Fusion Lifesytle, a registered charity.

Cheaper fitness for members

Forum members enjoy reduced rates at the council leisure centres run by Fusion Lifestyle

graphic: fusion logo

We are continually getting messages about keeping our minds and bodies active in order to stay healthy and happy as we grow older. The Forum heartily endorses these sentiments so we try and offer our members as many incentives as possible to get out and about in the borough – and further afield.

One major advantage of joining the Forum (for just £11 a year) is that, if you are an Enfield resident, your membership entitles you to reduced prices at the council’s leisure centres which are run by Fusion.

Take your Forum membership card along to one of the Fusion centres and buy an annual Energy concession card for just £7.50 instead of £21.50. Then you are eligible for discounts which in most cases means half price for swims/sauna, using the gym and talking part in classes and other activities.

Annual membership is £390 instead of £506 and there are even cheaper annual/monthly offers if you are able to visit the centres during off-peak hours.

Fusion runs Over 50s Days in all the centres which cost just £4.50 (instead of £9) for Energy concession card holders and enable attendees to take part in all the activities including swim, gym, walking football / netball, pilates, yoga, badminton, aquafit and even dancing on some days. See below for a list of centres and their timetables

You can just turn up on the day – no contract, no signing up. It is a great way to meet new people as well as taking the chance to try out new activities – or get back to old ones you used to enjoy.
